Chairs Monthly Update Autumn 2025

Autumn is upon us. 🍁🍁🍁. The clocks change this month. The lights are on earlier and the heating is going on. So it’s time to think about to make the most of the shorter days.

Well, for starters, our monthly speaker next week is from Guide Dogs for the Blind. And this will also be our charity raffle fundraiser recipient too.

I hope there will be a good crowd to hear about the work of this charity that we are all so familiar with, but may not know the extent of what they actually do, but can I respectfully remind  you that any dogs who may attend the meeting are working dogs and whilst with us are “on duty” and need to be allowed to focus on their job.

Brenda Brown will be selling seasonal cards and gifts to raise funds for the Children’s Hospital at the Oct and Nov meetings. Please do support her if you are able.

After a successful Race Night- (thanks to Jacky and her team for hosting a great event) , we are planning ahead for the Quiz night onSaturday 15th November. Tickets will be on sale at the Oct meeting, or directly from me meeting me, (rhubble8@gmail.com

With our groups in full swing after the summer, there is plenty to fill your days. So don’t hibernate, come and join the fun because  socialising warms the heart and spirit when the toes might be feeling the cold.

The u3a ethos

The u3a is not a service-provider. It is a mutual aid organisation to which everyone is expected to contribute. Its success depends on the willingness of members to volunteer and help out in whatever way they can by:

  • starting new groups
  • giving talks
  • assisting in the running of a group
  • participating actively in the groups they join
  • becoming a committee member
  • doing other tasks to assist the smooth running of the Cheswick Green & District u3a.
